“Another great day of horsemanship learning! Our crew yesterday started with morning feeding which included haying first; bringing in (proper leading discussions), feeding and the differences between concentrates, forages, and supplements; turning out; proper stall cleaning; and the importance of clean fresh water! We then delved into lunging. Why do we lunge and how to properly lunge. All the kids got the opportunity to lunge a pony on their own! and we finished the day with bandaging. The kids were able to see the dissection of a leg to see where the tendons and ligaments are and how close they are to the skin. Why wrapping correctly is vitally important! They learned how to roll up bandages, and practiced wrapping the table legs and each other’s legs! We will have a new crop of expert wrappers soon with their continued practice!
